Businessman Ian Lo donates P1-M worth of canned goods to Bacolod

Mayor Evelio “Bing” Leonardia lauded the continued support of businessman Ian Lo of the Negros Grace Pharmacy, who donated 50,000 assorted canned goods worth P1 million for Bacolod residents hard hit by the pandemic.

Ian Lo turned over his donation to Leonardia personally at the Bacolod City National High School Tuesday, September 14, and asked him to assist his company in the distribution of goods, a press release from the city public information office said.

Leonardia echoed anew his gratitude to the generosity of Lo and the business community as the city battles the COVID-19 pandemic.

Also with Lo was John Arceo, the company’s public relations officer.

Leonardia commended the corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs of Negros Grace Pharmacy, citing that Ian Lo’s firm had been consistent in helping less-privileged Bacolodnons even before the health crisis.

“Mr. Lo, time and again, has shown deep concern for the less fortunate by complementing our efforts,” he pointed out.

He further gave credit to the CSR advocacy of Lo and the Negros Grace Pharmacy targetting to help barangay folk.

“This is a big help. We will distribute these goods to those badly- affected by this pandemic,” Leonardia added.

The 50,000 canned goods include Spanish sardines, corned beef, baked beans and meat loaf, Lo said.

“The deep concern of Lo for Bacolodnons is admirable. This is a classic example of how strong public-private partnership could produce great results,” the city’s top executive, said.

This is one example worth emulating, he said, adding that “may your tribe increase,” apparently referring to Lo’s gesture of support.

Arceo stressed that the donation is in support of the local COVID response and intended for those hard-hit by the pandemic.

Lo and the Negros Grace Pharmacy, Arceo said, had been helping the anti-COVID campaign by extending help to the health frontliners, barangay captains and their communities.

In the past, Lo gave rice assistance, alcohol supplies, among others, Arceo recalled.

His company also distributed medicines and food packs last year, Lo added.

This is part of Negros Grace Pharmacy’s CSR projects to continually support the initiatives of Leonardia.

Lo said that his company will also assist in the distribution of the donated canned goods to the target beneficiaries.*
