The Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) gave Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez a perfect 10 rating for his first year as chief executive of Bacolod City.
The business sector is impressed by how Benitez laid the foundation and “put the house in order” by addressing issues on informal settlers and congested roads, MBCCI Chief Executive Officer Frank Carbon said Thursday, July 6.
Despite his first year as a local chief executive, Carbon said Benitez focused on uplifting the dignity of the informal settlers by launching housing and healthcare projects, as it is the foundation of increasing business confidence in Bacolod.
“If the people have decent housing and healthcare assistance, it will uplift their dignity and will maintain it by following local laws and ordinances,” he said.
He also pointed out that programs on decongesting Bacolod roads and cleaning up barangays and villages were also effective to attract more business activities in the city, providing more opportunities and jobs to the Bacoleños.
While MBCCI gave a perfect 10 to Benitez, Carbon said that they are urging the mayor to also address issues on power and water supply in the coming years.
He said that these utilities are essential to ease business activities in the city.
The business sector will also sit down with the mayor sometime in August this year to discuss the creation of the Bacolod Business Council through an executive order, Carbon added.*
