Build homes in harmony with environment – Kiko

Rep. Francisco “Kiko” Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3r District), chairman of the House Committee on Housing and Urban Development, urged officers and members of the two major housing organizations in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental to take seriously the dire need for building not only housing units but shelter and human settlements that are in harmony with the environment.

Benitez was the guest speaker at the induction and turn-over ceremony of the Negros Occidental chapters of the Chamber of Real Estate and Builders Association (CREBA) and the Subdivision and Housing Developers Association (SHDA) in Bacolod City on Friday, December 2.

As he congratulated the newly-inducted officers led by Steven Brian Jison, president for both CREBA and SHDA, he also rallied their continuing support for the government’s efforts to address the post pandemic recovery challenges, especially the critical housing backlog in the country.

He encouraged them to relay vital feedback that will help correct and improve systems and practices in the government housing agencies.

The congressman also lauded Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Benitez on finding innovative solutions and schemes to address the city’s shelter and human settlements, and sought the support the housing sector and stakeholders.

He underscored the real need for resilient houses – affordable, habitable and safe, for the new communities, citing the one million target houses per year to be built nation-wide, a challenge that the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development led by Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar faces.

The other CREBA 2022-2024 officers are vice president for suppliers -Lorenzo Kilayko, vice president for developers – Michael Anthony Valderrama, vice president for technical – Engr. Grant Kelly Guerrero, treasurer – Jerry Fuentebella, assistant treasurer – Louis Mariano Gonzaga, and corporate secretary – Alexander Antonio Nicolas Gonzaga.

Member of the Board of Directors are Eduardo Suatengco Jr., John Marie Lizares, Harrish Nandwani and immediate past president Roy Villa.

SHDA 2022-2024 officers include vice president – John Marie Lizares, secretary – Peter Rodnee Regalado and treasurer -Therese Borromeo.

Directors are Jerry Fuentebella, Jamie Cuaycong, Gina Jison, Roy Hojilla and immediate past president Kenneth Tirthdas.*
