The Commission on Elections is calling on candidates for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) to file their certificates of candidacy early and not to wait until the last day.
The filing of COCs will start on Monday, August 28, and will end on September 2.
They should avoid filing their COCs on the last day to avoid crowding, Negros Occidental Provincial Elections Supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria said on Wednesday, October 23.
Candidates should consult lawyers or an election officer when they fill up their COCs as every line in the document has legal implications, Ananoria said.
Ananoria said a regional command conference on the BSKE was held this week to discuss policies on the gun ban that starts August 28 and the layout of their security plans.
Election areas of concern have not been named yet, he said.
That will done after COCs are filed so they will know who the candidates will be and if there will be intense political rivalry, he said.*
