
A barangay kagawad, a senior citizen, and a listed high-value individual (HVI) were arrested in two separate buy-bust operations in Negros Occidental on Wednesday, Aug. 6, yielding a total of 68 grams of suspected shabu valued at P748,400.
In Sitio San Roque, Brgy. Gargato, Hinigaran, joint operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office–Negros Island Region, and Hinigaran Municipal Police Station apprehended an incumbent barangay councilor identified only as alias “Pam,” 31, and alias “Hany,” 60, a jobless resident of the same barangay.
Seized from the suspects were two sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 10 grams with an estimated street value of P68,000, along with marked money, three mobile phones, and other drug paraphernalia.
The suspects will be facing charges for violating Sections 5, 11, and 26 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Meanwhile, in Sagay City, authorities arrested a high-value individual identified as Ernie Sibay, alias “Kaning,” 45, in a buy-bust operation conducted in Teachers Village, Brgy. Poblacion 1.
Sibay allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer, leading to his arrest.
Authorities recovered a total of four sachets containing around 58 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of P394,400.
The suspect is now under the custody of the Sagay City Police Station, while the confiscated evidence has been submitted to the Negros Occidental Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination.*
