A 7-year-old boy drowned in a river near his residence at Barangay Cabug in Bacolod City Friday, August 20.
Maj. Ritchie Gohee, Police Station 9 chief, said the victim and his three friends went for a swim, without their parents’ knowledge in the Cabug River at Purok Busay.
He said the boy’s minor friends may have not known that the victim had reached the deeper part of the river and drowned. He was found three hours later after his mother went looking for him.
There was no strong current or heavy rain when the incident happened, Gohee said.
Gohee said the boy was rushed to the South Bacolod General Hospital but did not make it.*
