Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia will address the faculty members of the College of Nursing of the University of St. La Salle, students and their family members in a virtual forum at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 9.
More than 1,000 are expected to attend the webinar, Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy medical of the Emergency Operations Center, said in a press release.
Leonardia, who chairs both the city’s EOC and the COVID-19 Vaccination Council, will center his inspirational message on the initiatives of the local government to achieve herd immunity that will ensure the safety of communities and residents.
The September 9 webinar with Lasallians is an offshoot of an earlier Zoom meeting with the mayor, City Administrator Em Legaspi-Ang, concurrent EOC executive director and COVaC coordinator; Dr. Chris Sorongon, EOC deputy medical and Dr. Edwin Miraflor, Jr., officer-in–charge of the City Health Office, with deans and heads of local nursing schools where, it was reached that their faculty members and students, who are future frontliners, as well as their families, will be included as priority for COVID jabs.
Ang will also address the forum, Sorongon added.
Sorongon and Miraflor, on the other hand, will give a briefer and talk about the preparations for the September 17 actual inoculation of students, the faculty and members of their immediate families at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central.
The EOC will also discuss during the webinar the COVID-19 cases in Bacolod City and the various vaccination campaigns of the LGU.
Participants will also be given instructions on how to fill up the vaccination forms, the steps and related process and the side effects of the vaccine, Sorongon said.*
