It was a big win for four members of the Sagarbarria family in Negros Oriental who were all proclaimed winners on Tuesday, May 13.
Incumbent Negros Oriental Governor Manuel “Chaco” Sagarbarria (PFP) was reelected with 365,020 votes.
He defeated former governor Pryde Henry Teves (LP) who garnered 254,415 votes.
The governor, in a statement, said “I promise to continue working tirelessly for the betterment of our beloved Negros Oriental.”
His father Rep. Manuel “Chikiting” Sagarbarria, who is on his third term as representative of the second district of Negros Oriental, won as mayor of Dumaguete City.
“Chikiting” Sagarbarria was mayor of Dumaguete for three terms before becoming a congressman.
He defeated Dio Remollo (LP) in Monday’s polls.
Incumbent Dumaguete Vice Mayor Ma. Isabel “Maisa” Sagarbarria (Lakas), the wife of the congressman and mother of the governor, won as representative the 2nd District of Negros Oriental.
She defeated Felipe Antonio Remollo (LP) who is on his last term as mayor of Dumaguete City.
The governor’s sister Chessa Sagarbarria (Lakas) won as Dumaguete City councilor.
The winning vice governor of Negros Oriental is Fritz Diaz.
The other winning representatives of Negros Oriental are Emmanuel Iway (PFP) – 1st District and Janice Degamo (Lakas) – 3rd District.
Degamo is the widow of slain Negros Oriental government Roel Degamo.*
