Rep. Francisco “Kiko” Benitez (Negros Occidental, 3rd District) is inviting students to join the “Kwizko ni Kiko,” a quiz bee in the Third District of Negros Occidental.
“As a symbol of the perseverance and quest for knowledge of our students living in the ‘new normal,’ I am inviting all private and public high schools in the Third District to participate in the 1st Kwizko ni Kiko,” he said.
Benitez is calling on all secondary schools in Victorias, EB Magalona, Silay, Talisay and Murcia to field their top Grade 10 students to join the school-based blended academic competition, the first in Metro 3rd and in the province.
Invitations have been sent through the Department of Education’s Division of Negros Occidental and the Silay City Schools Division, in close coordination with the local government units and all public and private high schools in the Third District, a press release from his office said.
Registration started Wednesday, September 15, and will end on September 24.
All prospective participants must submit completed registration forms found in the google link per LGU posted on Cong. Kiko’s official Fb page; an endorsement letter signed by a school head; certificate of enrolment with LRN signed by school head; and two recent 2 x 2 ID photos with white background, the press release said.
Kwizko ni Kiko will challenge the students’ comprehension in Mathematics, Science and Technology, Language/Reading/Literature, Social Studies and Current Events, the press release said.
There will be separate elimination rounds in all cities and towns of the Third District slated on October 2 and 3.
Each of the participating schools are allowed to field minimum of one and maximum of two representatives.
Top three winners will be picked in the elimination rounds, to compete in the final round on October 23 to be held at the Technological University of the Philippines – Visayas in Talisay City.
The final event will be streamed live on Facebook to enable interactive engagement with audiences province-wide.
Attractive prizes are at stake for the winners and respective coaches.
Benitez cited the cooperation and support of project partners – Department of Education, TUP-V, University of the Philippines in the Visayas, and Metro 3rd local government units.
