Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez approved ordinances establishing underground cabling and walkability in Bacolod City on Wednesday, June 25.
The two ordinances were recently passed on third and final reading by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod.
The ordinance establishing underground cabling in Bacolod and setting guidelines was authored by Councilor Claudio Jesus Puentevella.
The underground cabling and wiring system project is geared towards reducing the number of deaths caused by accidental contact with electrical wires, fire incidents caused by electrical overloading, and theft and pilferage on different utility lines, the ordinance said.
The ordinance promoting walkability in Bacolod City and providing guidelines for its implementation was authored by Councilor Em Ang with Councilor Cindy Rojas as co-author.
The ordinance states that Bacolod envisions a safe, accessible, and sustainable urban environment that prioritizes pedestrian-friendly infrastructure and promotes the well-being of its citizens.*
