Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez named the 4,000 jobs now available to Bacolodnons with the start of the construction of 10,000 Yuhum housing units in Bacolod City soon.
More landowners are now offering their properties, some for free, for the mass housing program of the city, Benitez also said on Thursday, March 9.
He said the 10,000 housing units for the city’s informal settler families (ISFs) is just the start, as the total target is 50,000 units.
Benitez signed a contract with WRS Holdings and Pag-Ibig on Tuesday for the start of the first Pambansang Pabahay Program in the country.
The private investor is putting in P2 billion for the project.
He said the housing project will be the best pump priming industry for the city because it will decrease unemployment.
It will also provide employment for those wanting to be hired as job orders who cannot be accommodated by the city government, he said.
The housing project will have a trickledown effect on the local economy, he added.
