The average beef prices in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City decreased by P10 to P13 in the first half of July compared to the second half of June, the Philippine Statistics Authority reported.
The PSA Price Situationer published on its website Wednesday, July 17, showed that the average price of pure beef in Negros Occidental is P409 per kilo, which is P13.50 lower than the second half of June which was at P422.50/kilo.
Pure beef prices in Bacolod City in the first half of July were also P12.83 lower than the second half June, from P400.83 to P388/kilo.
The price of beef with bones was also P10 lower than the previous record, from P395 in the second half of June to P385/kilo in the first week of July in Negros Occidental, while it was P6.67 lower in Bacolod City, from P385 to P378.33/kilo.
Prices of pork also decreased in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City.
The average price in Negros Occidental for pork kasim is P315/kilo, from P317.50, pork liempo P355 from P360/kilo, and pork with bones P342.50 from P352.50/kilo, the PSA reported.
In Bacolod City, the price of pork kasim for the first half of July was at P333.33 from P349.17/kilo compared to second half of June, pork liempo was at P355 to P366.67/kilo, and pork with bones at P345.83 from P360/kilo.
Meanwhile, prices of dressed chickens slightly increased by P2.50 in Negros Occidental, from P207.5 to P210, and by P0.83 in Bacolod, from P201.67 to P202.50 per kilo.
The PSA also noted that medium-sized chicken eggs remained the same at P10.11 a piece in Negros Occidental and P9.62 in Bacolod City.*
