The Bacolod City government turned over a package of logistical aid to the local police force on Wednesday, Jan. 14, while simultaneously announcing plans to modernize the law enforcement fleet with electric patrol vehicles.
Mayor Greg Gasataya said the upcoming modernization will see 10 fully electric patrol vehicles deployed to ten different police stations across the city.
The initiative will mark a milestone Bacolod as it will be the first government unit in the region that will utilize electric vehicles for frontline police operations.
Gasataya noted that this investment serves as both a tool for efficiency and a gesture of appreciation for the BCPO’s performance in maintaining safety and combating the entry of illegal drugs.
Aside from the future fleet, the city government on Wednesday provided the BCPO with 40,800 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 36 personal computers, and 34 printers.
BCPO City Director Col. Joeresty Coronica said that these resources are vital for both administrative efficiency and the tactical training of SWAT personnel.
He thanked the city government for its help and promised that the enhanced capabilities would be reciprocated with high-quality service to the people of Bacolod.
The city’s government has also increased its monthly allowance of police personnel to ₱2,000 each.*
