BBM victory to benefit Negros, let’s end hate on May 9: Sonny

The victory of Ferdinand “BBM” Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte in Negros will be a victory for all Negrenses, former Murcia mayor Esteban “Sonny” Coscolluela said Monday, May 2.

“We must remember that Liza Araneta Marcos is from Negros, she is daughter of Manolet Araneta who grew up in Barangay Poblacion, Bago. We will have a person in Malacañang whose heart will definitely be for Negros,” Coscolluela, Marcos’ spokesman in Negros, said.

“It is to the benefit of Negros Occidental that Liza Araneta will be with her husband in Malacañang,” Coscolluela said.

They are very confident Marcos Jr. and Duterte will win in Negros Occidental on May 9, he said.

Their confidence is based on scientific surveys and actual ground reports, Coscolluela explained.

The fight for the presidency in Negros is going to be close and heated, but he is confident with the 28 mayors and most of the congressmen with them they will perform and deliver the votes, Coscolluela said.

He has not heard of any of the 28 mayors shifting support for another presidential bet, Coscolluela said.

Coscolluela said he knows some of the wives of the mayors are supporting the presidential bid of Leni Robredo but they are not worried about it.

“Let us all be either of the two – magnanimous in victory or gracious in defeat. Hate must end on May 9”, he said, pointing out all the big surveys show Marcos and Duterte leading by wide margins.

PULSE ASIA

Pulse Asia on Monday announced that Marcos Jr. remains the choice for president of most voters at 56 percent based on its April 16 to 22 surveys.

The Pulse Asia survey showed Robredo in second place with 23 percent, Manny Pacquiao – 7 percent, Isko Moreno Damagoso – 4 percent and Ping Lacson – 2 percent.

In the race for vice president the survey showed Duterte leading with 55 percent, followed by Senate President Vicente Sotto III – 18 percent, Senator Francis Pangilinan – 16 percent and Doc Willie Ong – 3 percent, Pulse Asia reported.

This is the homestretch with seven days to go so we can expect all kinds of gimmicks and fake news, Coscolluela said.

Coscolluela echoed the appeal of Marcos to exercise restraint during the elections. “Let us do this peacefully, let us do this graciously,” he said.

ELITISTS CLAIM

On the unity walk of the Aranetas and Ledesmas for Robredo in Bacolod City, Coscolluela said elitists are campaigning for her.

He said houses of the rich in Silay City and in Santa Clara Subdivision in Bacolod have pink campaign materials.

Asked if that meant his first cousin, former governor Rafael Coscolluela, who is leading the Negros campaign for Robredo is elitist, the former mayor said “he represents them, look at his followers”.

But he said Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, who is for Robredo, is not elitist, he is a good person.

“I understand he is for Leni because of his mother,” Coscolluela said.

He said most of those supporting Marcos are the ordinary people but denied that the campaign is a class war.

All the surveys nationwide show that people from the A and B class also support Marcos, it is just in Negros where it is different, he said.

But people are now emancipated, they are aware of the truth, Coscolluela said.

Coscolluela said he heard that the Iglesia ni Cristo will support Marcos but it has not been officially announced yet.

The camp of Robredo also have survey results showing Robredo leading in the presidential race in Negros Occidental, Rafael Coscolluela said earlier.*
