The south bound lane of the flyover in Barangay Bata and the new Sum-ag bridge in Bacolod City will be temporary closed starting Wednesday, March 16, to allow for asphalt overlay work worth P13 million, Jamie Javellana, Department of Public Works and Highways-Bacolod district engineer, said Tuesday.
Javellana said the flyover is made of steel and needs to be covered with a new special asphalt so it will not be slippery for vehicles. He expects the P6.6 million asphalting to last until May or June.
To be closed starting Wednesday will be the southbound lane of the flyover from Talisay City to Bacolod City, he said.
The north bound Bacolod to Talisay lane of the flyover will be closed after work on the south bound lane is completed, Javellana said.
The Sum-ag bridge will also be closed for repairs and asphalt overlay worth P6.4 million and is expected to be reopened by March 23, he added.
They will also add street lights to the bridge, he said.*
