‘Basyang’ affects 19,071 in NegOcc, majority of evacuees return home

Tropical Depression “Basyang” affected 6,399 families (19,071 individuals) in 19 local government units in Negros Occidental, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office reported on Sunday, Feb. 8.

The majority of the evacuees have gone home, the report said.

Tropical Depression “Basyang” weakened into a low pressure area and dissipated early Saturday morning, the state weather bureau reported.

The PDRRMO reported on Sunday that only 2,213 individuals remained in evacuation centers.

The areas and individuals affected by “Basyang” at its height were: San Carlos City – 415 individuals, Calatrava – 1,904, Toboso – 188, Escalante City – 44, Sagay City – 10,250, Cadiz City – 313, EB Magalona – 208;

Talisay City – 80, Bago City – 55, La Carlota City – 395, Pontevedra – 50, Hinigaran – 48, Isabela – 1,703, La Castellana – 321, Moises Padilla – 1,010, Himamaylan City – 29, Kabankalan City – 237, Cauayan – 1,769 and Hinoba-an – 53, the PDRRMO said.*
