The Commission on Elections has already distributed the vote counting machines (VCMs) and ballots for the May 9 polls to the towns and cities of Negros Occidental, Roberto Salazar, acting provincial elections supervisor, said Monday, May 2.
The final Joint Provincial Security Coordinating Council meeting of the Comelec, Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines before the May 9 polls will be held Tuesday, he said.
Representatives of the Philippine Coast Guard and the Provincial Health Office have also been invited to the meeting, he said.
Quick reaction teams are ready for deployment during the polls, Salazar said.
He reminded voters to report vote buying incidents to the PNP because that is a public crime and those caught in the act can be arrested.
Salazar said the ballots are being secured by the city and town treasurers and will be delivered to the precincts on Election Day.
The VCMs will undergo final testing and sealing at precincts in Bacolod City on May 6 and in the other towns and cities on May 7, he added.
There are 21 towns and cities that are asking for the early delivery of election forms and supplies, which the Comelec allows if there are reasonable reasons to do so, Salazar said.
Among the areas where early delivery was requested are Bacolod City, Calatrava, Escalante City, Don Salvador Benedicto, Cadiz City, San Carlos City and Toboso.*
