Bago suspends city gov’t work, Cadiz CHO closed until Jan. 24

Bago City government work has been suspended and the Cadiz City Health Office has been closed in Negros Occidental amid the rising COVID-19 cases.

Bago City Mayor Nicholas Yulo said he is suspending city government work, except for offices which render essential services, starting Thursday, January 20, for the decontamination of the Bago City Hall and its annex buildings. Normal operations will resume on Monday, January 24, he said.

Yulo said the rise in COVID-19 cases in Bago City is alarming, 71 tested positive for the virus on Wednesday alone. Some of the 71 are city government employees, he said.

A lot of city government employees have colds, which are symptoms of COVID-19, Yulo said.

Mayor Salvador Escalante said the Cadiz City Health Office was closed and will reopen on Monday.

He said 18 CHO employees reacted positive to rapid antigen tests and will be subjected to COVID-19 RT-PCR tests on Thursday.

The COVID-19 vaccination schedule at the Cadiz City Arena has been cancelled until further notice.*
