In what felt like a scene from the Bible, a farmer discovered a newborn baby near a river in Brgy. Tabunan, Bago City, on Monday morning, July 28.
The farmer was tending his carabao when he spotted the baby lying on the ground with no clothes, his small body bitten by ants.
The child was abandoned but that morning the baby boy was given a second chance at life.
Residents who came to help named the baby “Moises” after the biblical figure who was also found by the river and later grew up to lead his people.
The baby was immediately turned over to the Bago City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
By Wednesday, July 30, he had already received his first immunization shots at the City Health Office.
In a video shared by the Bago City Information Office, Mayor Marina Javellana-Yao was seen gently holding the baby, calling him a blessing and wishing him a bright and hopeful future.
The mayor also said the baby will temporarily stay at the CSWDO Crisis Center until a more suitable home is arranged.
She promised that the city government will provide full support and will coordinate closely with the social welfare office for the baby’s care.
After the video was posted, many people shared their desire to adopt baby Moises.
For now, Moises is safe. And he is not alone.*
