Bacolod’s contestant Jan Marie Bordon, who made it to the Top 10 in the Miss Universe Philippines 2023 pageant Saturday night, said she is thanking all those who supported her in her journey.
The 22-year-old, who is a fourth year BS Tourism Management student of La Consolacion College Bacolod, said she had not expected to make it to the top 10 at the pageant and was very happy to have reached that far.
Bordon said the people of Bacolod are the reason she worked hard to do her best during the pageant.
“To the people of Bacolod, thank you so much to all of you for your support in my Miss Universe Philippines journey,” she said.
Actress Michelle Dee from Makati City was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2023.
She is the daughter of Miss International 1979 Melanie Marquez and had also reigned as Miss World Philippines 2019.
Bordon won the Miss Bacolod MassKara International title in October 2022, but joined the Miss Universe Philippines pageant after Miss Bacolod MassKara Universe Kara Daniela Villarosa withdrew.
Carlos Durana, Miss Bacolod Masskara chairperson, said it was a feat for Bordon to make it to the Top 10 at the pageant that included veteran beauty contestants.
“I am super proud of her achievement,” he said.
Bordon said she is completing her requirements for graduation at LCC in June.
She plans to apply for a job as a flight attendant when she graduates.
“Our very own Jan Marie Bordon has proven that she’s a force to be reckoned with. We are so proud that she made it to the Top 10 of the highly competitive Miss Universe Philippines pageant. Her incredible talent, grace, and elegance were on full display throughout the competition,” LCC Bacolod said in a Facebook post.*
