Mayor Greg Gasataya said work at government offices and classes in Bacolod City will resume on Thursday, Oct. 2, after inspectors determined that buildings were safe for occupancy following an earthquake that hit Tuesday night.
However, he said the Department of Education reported that four classrooms in four schools in Bacolod City that sustained damages were unsafe for use.
The four classrooms are at Bata Elementary School, Education and Training Center School I, JR Torres Elementary School and Isla Elem School, he said.
Bacolod City Engineers Office head Loben Rafael Ceballos said the four classrooms will be inspected to determine if they can be repaired or have to be condemned.
Five call center employees were brought to a hospital in Bacolod Tuesday due to difficulty in breathing after the earthquake, Dr. Anna Maria Laarni Pornan, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer, said.
Minor cracks were also seen at the Bureau of Jail Management and Protection building in Handumanan, City Health Office and the Hall of Justice, Ceballos said.*
