Bacolod City has surpassed its target for herd immunity, Em Ang, Emergency Operations Center executive director, said Thursday, January 6.

Bacolod City has fully vaccinated 412,880 or 101.02 percent of its target population, a Department of Health Western Visayas Center for Health Development report released Thursday showed.

Herd immunity represents 70 percent of an area’s entire population.

Bacolod City will continue its vaccination drive for the rest of its population, and is also administering booster shots to ensure that residents are protected, Ang said.

Meanwhile, the DOH said Negros Occidental has fully vaccinated 806,319 residents or 44.17 percent of its target population.

Negros Occidental, which registered the lowest target percentage vaccinated in Western Visayas, has the largest population in the region.

Iloilo City was the top performer with 445,458 or 132.90 percent of its target population fully vaccinated.*
