The Bacolod City National High School (BCNHS) softball team is set to compete in the Junior League Softball World Series in Kirkland, Washington, from July 26 to August 3.
The team, fresh from a bronze medal win at the 2025 Palarong Pambansa, is looking for redemption on the global stage, a Bacolod City Government Center press release on Tuesday, July 15.
Leading the charge will be ace pitcher Criszhiel Barlita from Barangay Mandalagan.
Their first games are a doubleheader on July 27 against strong teams from the West and Southwest regions at Elms Street Park in Seattle, Washington.
The athletes departed for Manila on Tuesday for their final preparations before heading to the U.S.
Head coach Lizviminda Jalandoni is excited for the team’s international journey. “I’m happy and excited for the kids, and I look forward to seeing them give it their all for Bacolod,” Jalandoni said.
“It’s been years since we last brought home a world title. I want them to experience the thrill of winning on the international stage,” she said.
Bacolod last won the World Series in 2003, and the 2025 BCNHS squad is determined to bring that championship feeling back home.
BCNHS Principal Richard Gelangre expressed his pride. “I’m proud as your principal that you will represent our school and our city at the World Series. Good luck, Coach Lizvi, and thank you to everyone supporting the team.”
Gelangre also thanked DepEd Bacolod SDO Superintendent Dennis Develos, Mayor Greg Gasataya, Councilor Al Victor Espino, and the Local Government Unit of Bacolod for their support.
