The ongoing improvement of the Bacolod Public Plaza is now 43 percent done and is expected to be completed by the summer, Bacolod City Engineer’s Office (CEO) Officer-in-Charge Loben Ceballos announced on Monday, Jan. 12.

The project is part of a P300-million allocation from the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), which covers the rehabilitation of both the historic public plaza and the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) grounds.

Ceballos said the renovation features modern upgrades, including synchronized light and music installations across the plaza’s four quadrants.

Work is also underway to rehabilitate the plaza’s four fountains.

Once the plaza project is finalized, work will immediately transition to the BCGC grounds, Ceballos said.

The TIEZA is the agency implementing the two projects, Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya said.*
