The Bacolod City Police Office topped the anti-illegal drugs operations in Western Visayas in the first half of the year.
Police Regional Office-6 records showed that the police anti-drugs operations in the region from January to July this year increased by 367, from 1,538 in the same period last year to 1,905.
Of the figure, the Bacolod police was the major contributor to the region’s anti-illegal drugs operations with 271, while the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office conducted the most illegal gambling operations with 342.
The Negros Occidental police was also the top contributor in the campaign against loose firearms with 107 operations conducted.
The Antique Police Provincial Office conducted the most number of operations against illegal logging with 13 and the Iloilo Police Provincial Office had the most number of operations against illegal fishing with 13.
The increase in the number of police operations this year was attributed to the religious implementation of the region’s “Oplan Birada Semana” and the weekly review conducted by the Regional Oversight Committee on Illegal Drugs and Enhanced Managing Police Operation, PRO-6 said.*
