The Philippine National Police relieved Col. Noel Aliño as Bacolod City police director and reassigned him to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group effective Friday, July 19.
PCol. Ritchie Cruzero, Bacolod City Police Office deputy director for administration, will act as BCPO officer-in-charge until a new police director is appointed, Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky, director of the Police Regional Office 6, said.
The PRO6 Placement and Promotions Board will come up with a shortlist of qualified officers to enable Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez to choose Aliño’s replacement, Wanky said.
Aliño, who was assigned to the BCPO on April 18, 2023, may be appointed to head the CIDG National Capital Region, a source said.
The transfer of Aliño is part of the PNP’s promotion process, Benitez said.
“As part of their internal procedure, he will be transferred to CIDG Manila. We will wait for the official announcement from the office of the Regional Director regarding who will replace CD Noel Aliño,” Benitez said.
The mayor thanked Aliño for his “dedicated service and contributions to the safety and security of our community, particularly his efforts in capturing those involved in telco-related theft, installations of Barangay Police Assistance Desks (BPAD) and major illegal drug busts, including the Caunda Group and many others”.
“We look forward to working closely with the new city director to continue ensuring the welfare and protection of our residents,” the mayor said.
“Together, we are committed to maintaining peace and order in Bacolod” Benitez said.
The PNP special order on Aliño’s relief also stated that Col. Joel Manuel Apelo Ana of the CIDG would be reassigned to the PRO6 effective Friday.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Coast Guard also relieved Commander Paterno Belarmino as head of the Coast Guard Station Northern Negros Occidental on Friday.
He was replaced by Commander Jansen Benjamin.*
