The anti-criminality drive of the Bacolod City Police Office got a boost from stakeholders after it received P10,000 worth of gas assistance from local business groups.

Col. Manuel Placido, city police chief, received the gas coupons Thursday, April 8, from businessman Crispin Chua, who represented the Northern Negros Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The local business groups met with the city’s top cop in February to express their concern over the series of shooting incidents in Bacolod since the start of the year.

During their meeting, the business sector committed to donate a P10,000 gas allowance every month to the BCPO to boost their mobility and to help strengthen measures to prevent crimes.

Placido said the gas coupons were immediately turned over to Lt. Rondyl Tapang, chief of BCPO’s Tactical Motorcycle Riding Units (TMRU), to improve the unit’s drive against criminality in Bacolod.

“As BCPO is intensifying its crime prevention campaign, the support from our stakeholder will be of great help in the conduct of more aggressive and sustained police operations to get rid of the opportunity of the motor-riding criminals to perpetrate their crime and as part of the heightened security measures implemented by BCPO within its area of responsibility,” Placido said.

He also thanked the business sector for their support and has assured the stakeholders that the police will continue to be proactive to ensure the safety of the people and the community.*
