Bacolod City is one of five cities in the country chosen as focus areas for the implementation of the Public Transport Modernization Program (PTMP).
The goal is to make Bacolod a model for the program along with the cities of Mandaue, Antipolo, Baguio and General Santos,
Zion C. Yuson, DOTr PTMP Project Evaluation Officer IV, said on Monday, Sept. 8.
Yuson and Drench Manido, Clean Air Asia project coordinator, who met with Mayor Greg Gasataya, will be conducting a study on the PTMP implementation in Bacolod this week.
The DOTr will be pouring in more resources for the improvement of the PTMP through better support for the local government and transport groups in Bacolod, Yuson said.
They will be gathering information from the LGU and local transport groups to ensure better mobility for Bacolod commuters, he said.
Manido said Clean Air Asia will assist in increasing the number of electric jeepneys in Bacolod, and provide support for more charging stations and capacity building.
They will implement the E-Mobility ASAP project in Bacolod aimed at promoting electric vehicles, he said.*
