Bacolod, Negros city mayors virtually meet Marcos at Palace

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. stressed the need to implement a booster campaign against COVID-19 at a virtual meeting with city mayors from around the country, including Negros Occidental, who gathered at the Rizal Hall in Malacañang Palace Friday night, July 8, Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said.

The president also discussed plans towards the resumption of face-to-face classes, he added.

The President delivered his message virtually while currently in isolation after testing positive for COVID-19.

“He has a slight fever, but is otherwise okay,” Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said.

Aside from the Bacolod mayor, the Negros Occidental city mayors present at the gathering were Raymund Tongson of Himamaylan, Renato Gustilo – San Carlos, Joedith C. Gallego  – Silay, Nicholas Yulo – Bago, Melecio Yap – Escalante, Javier Miguel  Benitez – Victorias, Narciso Javelosa – Sagay, Salvador Escalante  – Cadiz and Benjie Miranda – Kabankalan.

Local Government  Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. briefed the mayors on the “Local Government Unit Efforts on Booster Administration”, Vice President and  Education Secretary Sara Duterte gave a presentation on the “Resumption of Face-to-Face Classes”, and Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire discussed the Department of Health’s plan on “Vaccination Mobilization”.*
