Bacolod City launched its second VAX-i mobile vaccination bus courtesy of Vallacar Transit Inc. at the Bacolod City Government Center Thursday, August 19.

The city government also launched its graveyard shift vaccination drive at Concentrix, a business process outsourcing firm in Bacolod City, Thursday night.

The aim is to vaccinate the 1,028 Concentrix employees against COVID-19, City Administrator Em Ang said.

The fight against the Covid-19 pandemic is a race against time, Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said.

That is why the city government, hand in hand with the medical team and support staff of the Emergency Operations Center under Ang, who is its executive director, are finding ways to introduce more innovations in the LGU’s vaccination drive, he said.

Councilor Cindy Rojas, and Ang led the launching of the second VAX-i mobile vaccination bus in partnership with the VTI, represented by lawyer Julius Entila, its vice president for administration.

VTI, through its president Leo Rey Yanson and matriarch Olivia Yanson, offered the use of the bus for the mobile vaccination drive of Bacolod, Rojas said.

Entila said they will help in whatever way they can, and that in 3 to 4 weeks the third VAX-i bus will have been prepared by Vallacar for the city.

“We hope it helps. We are grateful for this opportunity to help the City of Bacolod”, Entila said.

On August 13, Leonardia led the launch of the first VAX-i mobile vaccination drive at the BCGC.

Ang said the VAX-i bus drives around Bacolod, with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers on board, who administer COVID-19 vaccines to workers in the marginalized sectors.

CoVaC reported that the Bacolod City government has so far inoculated 180,045 residents, close to 80,000 of whom have already been fully vaccinated as of Sunday, Aug. 15, Leonardia said.

Dr. Edwin Miraflor Jr., OIC-City Health Officer, said “Covid is a dynamic disease and one of the innovations we made is also a dynamic solution which includes our VAX-i and drive-thru vaccination.”

“Our goal is to make the vaccination program more accessible to everyone so we can achieve herd immunity and eradicate Covid-19 as fast as possible”, Leonardia said.

Lawyer Collin Derk Isidto, VTI vice president for legal, and Ian Galimba, VTI vice president for treasury, also attended the launch.*
