Bacolod City is donating P3 million to earthquake-hit Cebu, Mayor Greg Gasataya said on Thursday, Oct. 9.
The mayor initially said it would be P2 million but in a Facebook post on Thursday he said the Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (BDRRMC) approved a donation of ₱3 million.
“In a gesture of solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Cebu who lost loved ones and homes in the recent earthquake, the Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (BDRRMC) has approved the Bacolod City LGU’s donation of ₱3 million to the Province of Cebu to aid the LGUs severely affected by the disaster,” he said.
“When others are in pain, we don’t look away. We reach out, because in times like these, we can only stand stronger when we are together,” he added.*
