The Advanced Hyperbaric Healthcare Center in Bacolod City, a first in Western Visayas, was inaugurated Saturday, March 20.
“This will open up medical tourism for Bacolod City,” City Administrator Em Ang said.
“Amidst the backdrop of COVID-19 never before has health and wellness been more highlighted…This is a very welcome development in the city of Bacolod,” said Ang, in her message in behalf of Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
She also said the center, located at Narra and CL Montelibano Avenue in Barangay Villamonte, will also create jobs especially now that they are scarce all over the world.
The center is owned by Jonathan Lo, Jesus Co, and Jacinto and Shirley Palma.
Ang lauded Lo and his partners for coming up with the center despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
Senator Bong Go, who delivered pre-recorded message, said it will be a boost to health care services in Negros Occidental and the region.
The Bacolod center has two state-of-the-art computerized hyperbaric oxygen chambers engineered and built in Germany, Lo said. The larger chamber can comfortably seat up to 12 persons and the smaller one can accommodate four persons
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) helps one “heal faster and feel better”, Lo said.
Inhaling 100 percent oxygen under pressure in a hyperbaric chamber brings so many health benefits as well as healing, Co said.
HBOT is a non-invasive, well-established medical treatment that enhances the body’s natural healing process and strengthens the immune system by using prescribed high-pressure oxygen, that treats a variety of health conditions and diseases, Dr. Philton Yu, a doctor at the clinic, also said.
Among its many health benefits are increased oxygen delivery to injured tissues, best for cancer and post-chemotherapy care, greater blood vessel formation, provides synergistic work with antibiotics, stimulates new bone formation, improves healing of wounds, reduces swelling, relieves chronic pain, addresses hypoxia, improves memory and cognitive function, decreases the risk of infection, and is an anti-aging boost, a press release from the center said.
HBOT has been the long-kept secret of many popular athletes for strengthening and endurance, conditioning before a game event, and muscle recovery after an event and in the healing of injuries, it said.
For geriatric care, oxygen therapy has been proven to reverse aging and correct or mitigate some pre-existing conditions, the press release added.
Babies and young children with genetic anomalies have also benefited from hyperbaric treatment, it added.
The center is manned by a medical team, including an in-house doctor who provides teleconsult prior to treatment.*
