
A send-off ceremony for the 166-member delegation of Bacolod City to the Batang Pinoy 2025 National Championships in General Santos City from October 25–31 was held at the Bacolod City Government Center grounds Monday morning.
The ceremony was held to introduce the 144 young athletes and 22 coaches who will represent Bacolod City, a press release from the Bacolod City Communications Office said.
The delegation is geared to participate in 12 sports: aquatics/swimming, archery, athletics, basketball, boxing, chess, cycling, futsal (boys and girls), gymnastics, Muay Thai, taekwondo, beach volleyball, and wushu.
Mayor Greg Gasataya, in his address, conveyed his strong support to the athletes, urging them to compete with sportsmanship and pride.
He also announced the City of Bacolod’s official bid to host the national youth sporting event in 2026.
“We are hopeful that Bacolod will host Batang Pinoy 2026,” Gasataya said.*
