Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya, head of the transition team of Mayor Alfredo Benitez, said they received the required documents sought from the administration of former mayor Evelio Leonardia at a meeting at the Bacolod City Government Center on Thursday, June 30.
Benitez became mayor of Bacolod City at noon of Thursday.
Department of the Interior and Local Government Bacolod head, Ma. Joy Meredith Madayag, said the Leonardia administration fully complied with DILG Memorandum Circulars Nos. 2022-029 and 2022-053.
It was a smooth turnover, she said.
“Our next step will be to countercheck the documents submitted and to ensure that they are in compliance with the requirements of DILG and other concerned agencies,” Gasataya said.
The transition team also took the opportunity to check some of the offices in the Government Center to make sure that everything is in order, he added.
As head of the Benitez transition team, he is thanking the DILG and all those involved for “the overall smooth, peaceful, and orderly transition of administration”, Gasataya said.
Karol Joseph Chiu, incoming secretary to the mayor, said they are looking for other keys for the Mayor’s Office. There are a lot of rooms at the Mayor’s Office but only one key to the main door was turned over, he said.
He also said some of the furniture were in a poor state.*
