Senate Majority Floor Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri said Sunday, June 27, that an additional P200 million will be added to the budget for the Bacolod City General Hospital.
This will bring the total expected allocation for the hospital to P800 million, he told DIGICAST NEGROS.
Zubiri expects the hospital construction to begin in 2022. President Rodrigo Duterte signed House Bill 6731 authored by Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya and Senate Bill 1647 authored by Zubiri into Republic Act No. 11564, an act establishing the Bacolod City General Hospital and appropriating P600 million for it, on June 24.
Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia, in a press release Sunday, said he called Zubiri to thank him for his sponsorship of the bill in the Senate.
“And it is happy news that Senator Migz informed me that in addition to the P600 million that was initially provided for in the bill, he will find other sources starting with an allocation of P200 million to augment its budget,” Leonardia said.
Zubiri pointed out that it was Senator Franklin Drilon who initiated the move to provide funding for all the 13 new hospitals just approved by the president, he added.
“With his P265 million Bacolod Museum project and his P20 million assistance for our parks, Sen. Migz is really living up to our billing that he is the Godfather of Bacolod City,” Leonardia said.*
