
Bacolod City fire victims received more assistance Tuesday, May 11.
Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran led the Department of Social Services and Development distribution of financial assistance to the fire victims of barangays 12 and 23.
Families whose houses were destroyed received P10,000 each in financial assistance, those with damaged houses – P5,000, and sharers residing in damaged houses – P3,000, a press release from the Bacolod Public Information Office said.
Eleven houses with 15 families in Barangay 12, and 4 houses with 13 families in Barangay 23 were razed by fire last week.
Leonardia immediately ordered the Disaster Risk Reduction Office and the DSSD to provide assistance to the fire victims, like food packs, tents, hygiene kits, and other needed basic supplies, the press release said.
Former Rep. Alfredo Benitez earlier also gave financial assistance to the victims of the three fires in Bacolod City, Rep. Stephen Paduano (Abang Lingkod), said.
He gave P5,000 each to 22 families in Barangay 12, 8 families in Barangay 23 and 65 families in Purok Neptune, Barangay Singcang-Airport, Paduano said.
Ian Lo of Negros Grace Pharmacy also gave P3,000 each to the families at Purok Neptune to help them rebuild their homes.*
