The dengue cases in Bacolod City this year are now 2,077 with 43 new ones from Oct. 20 to 26, the City Health Office reported on Monday, Nov. 4.
These are 321.3 percent higher compared to the same period last year that had 493 cases and three deaths.
Five probable dengue deaths have been reported in Bacolod City this year.
Taculing still has the highest number at 243 cases, followed by Bata with 168, Mansilingan – 165, Estefania – 160, Villamonte – 134, Mandalagan – 109, Tangub – 106, Alijis – 100, Sum-ag – 90, Singcang-Airport – 85, Cabug – 82, Banago – 81, and Granada – 76.
Dengue fever is a viral illness spread by the bite of an infected mosquito.
The CHO reminded the public to continue the 4S campaign against dengue, which includes search and destroy mosquito breeding places, seek early consultation, self-protect, and support fogging and spraying in hotspot areas.*
