Seven individuals were arrested by the police for allegedly engaging in an illegal spider fight at Purok Patricia Homes, Brgy. Granada, Bacolod City, on Saturday, Oct. 5.
The Bacolod City Police Station 5 arrested the suspects in the middle of a spider fight for illegal gambling.
Recovered from them were improvised spider cages containing 17 live spiders, 10 empty matchboxes, two bamboo sticks, two medical vials, two syringes, two empty tubes, and P3,369 worth of bet money, the police reported.
The seven are in police custody and will face charges in violation of Presidential Decree No. 1602, which penalizes illegal gambling.
Col. Joeresty Coronica, Bacolod police director, said that they are committed to eradicating all forms of illegal gambling in the city.*
