Two alleged street-level drug personalities were arrested while around 30 grams of suspected shabu worth about P204,000 were confiscated during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Banago, Bacolod City.
The operation was conducted by personnel of Police Station 3 of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), with support from the City Intelligence Unit, at around 7:14 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, in Purok Mahimulaton.
Police identified the suspects only by their aliases “Yan Yan,” 44, and “Rod,” 26, of Purok Mahimulaton, Barangay Banago.
The police said they received information from a confidential informant that “Yan Yan” was allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade in the area.
After conducting validation, surveillance, and a test-buy operation, operatives carried out the buy-bust that led to the arrest of the suspects.
Police said “Yan Yan” was arrested after allegedly selling suspected shabu to an undercover operative, while “Rod” was apprehended after he was allegedly caught purchasing illegal drugs.
Recovered from the suspects were one sachet of suspected shabu sold during the buy-bust, 11 additional sachets of suspected shabu, the P500 marked buy-bust money, a coin purse, and P100,567 in cash believed to be proceeds from illegal drug activities.
The suspects were informed of their constitutional rights and are now under the custody of Police Station 3 for the filing of appropriate charges.
PRO Negros Island Region Regional Director BGen. Romano V. Cardiño said the operation reflects the police’s continuing campaign to dismantle illegal drug networks and hold those involved accountable under the law.
He added that authorities will continue strengthening intelligence-driven operations to help keep communities safe from illegal drugs.*
