Bacolod Comelec reminds brgy officials to stay apolitical

The Commission on Elections is reminding barangay officials in Bacolod City to remain apolitical.

Barangay officials engaged in partisan politics could face administrative charges if complaints are filed against them, Bacolod Elections officer Revo Sorbito said Thursday, March 3.

The Omnibus Election Code and Section 93 of the Local Government Code prohibit barangay officials from engaging in partisan political activities.

The Bacolod barangay officials were also recently briefed on their responsibilities during the campaign period under Comelec Resolution 10732, he said.

Comelec Resolution 10732 contains guidelines for conducting the in-person campaign, rallies, political meetings or conventions, motorcades, and caravans and “miting de avances” for the 2022 elections.*
