Lawyers, law enforcement agents, and gun enthusiasts in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental showed off their shooting skills in the first ever Shooters Invitational Shooting Competition organized by the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office.
The opening ceremony of the two-day shootfest this morning, February 27, at the Negros Sports Exchange Gun Club firing rage along Circumferential Road in Barangay Mandalagan was attended by members of the Office of the City Prosecutor of Bacolod, different gun club members with Don Salvador Benedicto Mayor Marxlen De La Cruz and Bacolod City Legal Officer Atty. Joselito Bayatan as guests of honor.
Bacolod Chief City Prosecutor Ma. Theresa Ditching said they organized the shootfest even in the middle of the pandemic to provide a venue for camaraderie and recreation among prosecutors, lawyers, law enforcement agencies, and gun enthusiasts.
The Philippine National Police, Philippine Army, and Philippine Coast Guard also sent a contingent to represent their respective agencies in the competition.
“It also happens that most of the prosecutors in our office are gun enthusiasts so we decided to hold this event for them to hone their target shooting skills and prepare them in case we will also have a shooting competition in the National Prosecutor’s League of the Philippines,” said Ditching.
“This is also our way of raising funds for the maintenance of our office so we can serve the public better,” Ditching added.
The event is also open to gun club members and gun enthusiasts in Negros Occidental.*
