Bacolod City, the National Capital Region and 46 other areas will be under Alert Level 1 until March 31, Secretary Martin M. Andanar, acting presidential spokesperson, said Tuesday, March 15.
Other areas in Western Visayas placed under Alert Level 1 are Aklan, Capiz, Guimaras and Iloilo City.
Negros Occidental and Oriental, Antique and Iloilo province will remain under Alert Level 2 until March 31.
Bacolod that has 97 active COVID-19 cases had no new case on Tuesday, the Department of Health (DOH) reported.
The city has fully vaccinated 127.53 percent of its target population, and 146.40 percent of its target senior citizen population, the DOH also reported.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the Alert Level 1 status for Bacolod augurs well with the city government’s economic recovery plan under the new normal.
“Our gold medal streak continues. We are entering the new normal. It doesn’t mean, however, that the virus is gone. COVID is still here and we must always be on our guard,” Leonardia said in a press statement.*
