The Bacolod Arts, Cultural and Heritage Inc. (BACHI) has officially commenced its 53rd year of operations this 2026, with leadership announcing a strategic roadmap aimed at the organization’s upcoming Emerald Anniversary in 2028.
Following a recent meeting of its officers and board of directors, the group established a comprehensive calendar of events designed to celebrate its 55-year legacy of community service and cultural advocacy, a press release from BACHI said Sunday, Feb. 1.
To initiate these anniversary preparations, BACHI is launching a series of flagship activities this month to coincide with the nationwide celebration of National Arts Month.
The planned programming features a multi-disciplinary approach, including art exhibitions dedicated to local talent, a culinary arts program centered on traditional heritage cooking and Negrense cuisines, and various cultural initiatives intended to engage a broad cross-section of Bacolod’s residents.
These initiatives are rooted in BACHI’s long-standing mission to promote culture and the arts as essential components of human development, the press release said.\
By highlighting local traditions, the organization seeks to bridge the gap between regional heritage and the modern community.
This commitment to cultural enrichment has remained the cornerstone of the organization since its inception over five decades ago, the press release said.
Established in 1973 by the late Fulgencio “Fulgie” Viga Jr. as the Bacolod Cultural Society, the organization has evolved into a primary champion of inclusivity in the local arts scene.
Over the past 53 years, BACHI has consistently worked to ensure that heritage and artistic expression are shared across all sectors of society, a mandate that will continue to drive its activities through the 2028 milestone year, the press release said.*
