The Bacolod City government has received an additional P50 million from the Department of Health (DOH) to support the Bacolod City Comprehensive Health Program (BacCHP).
The fund received on Nov. 5 was a granted in response to the request of Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez for more resources to cover rising healthcare costs under BacCHP, which requires around P16 million a month, a press release from the city government said on Thursday, Nov. 7.
Under the BacCHP ordinance, the city government provides P15,000 for each health card holder and coverage for hospital bills for their dependents.
Bacolod has already disbursed over P80 million, benefiting more than 9,000 residents.
This latest DOH-approved funding will go directly to seven accredited hospitals in Bacolod, aiming to ease financial strains, the press release said.*
