La Carlota City Councilor Julius Martin Asistio assumed his post as Philippine Councilors League representative to the Negros Occidental Sagguniang Panlalawigan (SP) at its regular session, Tuesday, September 6.

The SP during its session approved the appointment of retired provincial veterinarian Renante Decena as consultant for animal welfare and management of the province, Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer said.

They, however, deferred approval of the appointment of Engineer Leo Van Juguan as consultant for mining geosciences and quarry operations as he was not present at the session, Ferrer said.

Asistio, who was recently elected president of the PCL-Negros Occidental chapter, is the son of Rep. Juliet Marie Ferrer (Neg. Occ., 4th District) and the vice governor.

He thanked Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, the vice governor, Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, Rep. Stephen Paduano and the councilors of Negros Occidental for their support that led to his winning the PCL-Negros Occidental presidency.

Asistio said he will work for the good of the province and to give the councilors a voice in the SP.

He will do whatever he can to help promote the sports programs of the province, Asistio also said.*
