ASF cases confirmed in NegOr, Dauin mayor orders pig culling

The Bureau of Animal Industry has confirmed that swine deaths in Barangay Maayongtubig, Dauin , Negros Oriental, were caused by the deadly African Swine Fever, Dauin Mayor Galicano Truita said in an executive order issued Saturday, May 20.

Truita, in EO 2023-19.1, ordered the Municipal African Swine Fever Task Force to conduct immediate culling of pigs in Puroks 1 and 2 of Barangay Maayongtubig, including those within a 500-meter radius, to prevent the ASF spread.

He also imposed a temporary ban on the entry and exit of pigs, including fresh and frozen pork products, from Dauin, and suspended any swine related activities in the entire municipality.

The mayor ordered the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist, the Dauin Police Station, the Municipal Health Office, barangay captains concerned in coordination with the Provincial Veterinary Office to immediately implement the order to avoid the spread of ASF virus.*
