One of two suspects facing multiple estafa charges for alleged involvement in a police recruitment scam in La Castellana, Negros Occidental, was apprehended in Tapaz, Capiz.
Apprehended was Mary June delos Santos who is now detained at the La Castellana Police Station, PMaj. Rhon Daryl Nigos, the town’s cop chief, said Thursday, July 4.
Delos Santos is calling on her co-accused, dismissed La Castellana Councilor Donato Dumaguit to surrender.
It was Dumaguit who collected the money from the recruits, delos Santos alleged on Thursday.
Delos Santos also alleged that a former La Castellana opposition official was helping Dumaguit and even asked her to link La Castellana Mayor Rhummyla Mangilimutan to the cases filed against them.
The allegations hurled by Dumaguit against Mangilimutan are fabricated, the mayor had nothing to do with their activities, Delos Santos said.
Delos Santos also said she has never met the mayor.
She said policemen linked to their case also had nothing to do with their recruitment activities.
It was Dumaguit who collected the money from the recruits, delos Santos alleged on Thursday.
Delos Santos and Dumaguit are facing 43 complaints, he said, so there are more warrants to be issued against them.*
