The 79th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army unearthed  high-powered firearms believed to be owned by the remnants of the dismantled New People’s Army North Negros Front in Brgy. Pinoyawan, Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental, on Monday, July 29.

The recovery was a result of continuous  military operations at the boundaries of Don Salvador, Calatrava, and San Carlos City, and an anonymous tip from a concerned citizen, a 79th IB press statement said.

They recovered two M-14 Rifles, a M1 Garand Rifle, a 12-Guage Shotgun, and assorted ammunition, it said.

The Army said that the anonymous tip was corroborated by a member of the dismantled NNF who recently surrendered.*
