The 79th Infantry Battalion vowed to partner with local government units to help create more prepared and resilient communities during the kick-off ceremony of the National Disaster Resilience Month in Manapla, Negros Occidental, on Monday, July 1.
1Lt. Dan Carlo Somoza, 79IB Civil Military Coordination Officer, said they are ready to partner with of LGUs on matters involving training and mitigation activities on disaster resilience.
Somoza also emphasized the army’s capability and readiness to respond to Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response Operations.
This year’s theme “Bantayog ng Katatagan at ang Pagbubuklod sa Layuning Kahandaan”, emphasizes the need for proactive measures to enhance the country’s ability to withstand and recover from climate-related disasters, a press release from the 79th IB said.
Also present during the activity were Manapla Mayor Manuel Escalante, Police Chief Maj. Robilito Mariano, and Fire Marshal SFO3 Julius Jovia.*
