Armed men torched heavy equipment in La Libertad, Negros Oriental, at about 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8.
Two backhoes, a loader, and a dump truck were destroyed at Sitio Manghuya, Brgy. Aya, La Libertad, initial reports said.
The heavy equipment were being used by a contractor reportedly working on a farm-to-market road.
Law enforcers are investigating the possibility that it was perpetrated by remnants of the New People’s Army (NPA) as part of their alleged extortion activities.*
